Cling to the Truth

As the dust settles from National FFA Convention I would encourage us all to look back at some shared messages. Whether you were there to experience the magic of convention or got to see it livestreamed from your couch, there were important takeaways from the sessions. One of the retiring addresses that hit me the hardest, came from the Eastern Region Vice President, Caroline Groth. Someone Kansas FFA got to know well this past summer at our state convention.

Now this was not just my favorite for the simple fact that our Kansas FFA State Convention got a shout out, but because Caroline shared a message, I think we should all consider. So, if you did not get to see her or need a reminder here is a little summary:

First, recognize the lies we tell ourselves. Then fight them with the truth and not only fight them but cling to the truth. She reminded us that all the lies we tell ourselves fall into three categories: I am unworthy, I am helpless, I am unlovable. However, these are simply the lies we tell ourselves to hold us back.

Personally, I think this is a message we should all hear. All of those lies you are telling yourself are simply not true, so stop believing in them. Go run for your chapter office, go try out a new CDE or LDE, or go start up a conversation with a new person. All the time we tell ourselves that we cannot do something is a lie. So, let us stop lying to ourselves and start clinging to the truth. YOU ARE WORTHY, YOU ARE CAPABLE, YOU ARE LOVED!
