The Next Second

Blog

We have all failed at something. It is not a matter of if we fail at something but a matter of when. Failure is not a loss but a pinpoint in our journey to getting to our final destination. It is not about what mistakes or failures we have but how we react to them.

Maybe you failed a test, did not make the team, or did not receive the leadership position. What is your first response when you find out you have failed? Do you start blaming the loss on others? Do you think how you had it harder than others and that is why you failed? Or do you take the next one second of your life and turn it to motivation and a learning opportunity?

When you think about it, we only fail for one second. When you find out you failed the test, that only lasts one second. Then you are able to start working towards the next one and doing everything you can to pass. Or when you find out about not getting on the sports team or a leadership position? The next second is how you make it. Are you going to hold onto that feeling and use it as motivation? Are you going to start planning your next step? How are you going to use the next second?
