Supporting the Future of Kansas FFA: Heartland Regional Stockyards Special Sale Makes an Impact
PLAINVILLE, Kan. – With 2,400 head sold, local livestock producers seized the opportunity to support the future of agriculture at the 3rd Annual Special FFA Sale at Heartland Regional Stockyards on Tuesday, February 11th.
Lloyd Schneider of Heartland Regional Stockyards expressed his enthusiasm for the event’s success. “We are ecstatic with the number of producers who showed up to sell, buy, and support the event,” said Schneider. “FFA provides experiences and knowledge that no other educational organization offers, and we’re proud to support their mission.”
During the sale, sellers and buyers could donate $1 per head to the Kansas FFA Foundation and a local FFA chapter of their choice— Heartland Regional Stockyards matched 100% of the per head donations. As a result, 18 local FFA chapters will receive funds to enhance student experiences, including hands-on learning and leadership development. Chapters receiving donations are: Blue Valley, Colby, Ellis, Ellsworth, Hays, Hill City, Hoxie, Logan, Natoma, Norton, Oakley, Palco, Phillipsburg, Plainville, Stockton, WaKeeney, Washington and Wheatland.
FFA members from Natoma, Logan, Palco, Phillipsburg, Plainville, and Stockton chapters assisted with the event—checking in cattle, serving a meal catered by Pfonz Smokehaus, and connecting with area producers.
Logan FFA Advisor Janet Gottstine highlighted the event’s value, saying, “The Heartland Regional Stockyards Sale is a highlight of the year. It provides hands-on learning, skill-building, and memorable moments for our members. We are grateful that their team wants to support what we are doing to make a difference in the lives of Kansas FFA members.”
The Kansas FFA Foundation extends heartfelt gratitude to the producers and sponsors who made this event possible. Their support ensures a bright future for Kansas FFA and the next generation of agricultural leaders.
