Middle School CDE Brawl

Ell-Saline FFA is excited to formally invite your middle school programs to come and compete in the first annual Middle School FFA CDE Brawl. This day is aimed at 8th grade students, but of course younger students could compete as well.

We have 11 contests planned for your students to compete in, including:

• Entomology
• Food Science
• Milk Quality & Products
• Agribusiness Management
• Veterinary Science
• Floriculture
• Landscape & Nursery
• Livestock Judging (Depending on facility- right now it’s not looking likely)
• Meats Judging
• FFA Information Test
• Public Speaking

Registration will be $10/team, with unlimited team members from each school. If you sign up for all 11 contests, we will just charge $100.

This is designed to be more laid back than our high school competitions- each CDE is shorter and geared towards getting a taste of the contest rather than a comprehensive understanding of the whole thing. As such, I anticipate that students could compete in a multitude of competitions throughout the day. We will provide scantrons, and every contest will be in a multiple choice format (other than Livestock and Public Speaking). I encourage you to be reasonable with your students about how many contests they can do- 11 might be a bit much, but I foresee 5 or even 6 being very possible in 3ish hours. We of course want the contests to be relevant and reliable, so we will be following rules on splitting up, talking during the contest, etc. However, to encourage students to participate in multiple competitions, we have set up all of them (again- besides livestock and public speaking) to be a come and go contest. There may be multiple versions of test (reordered questions and/or answers) to help mitigate cheating.

I will go ahead and attach the rules as well as the link to registration. I will send out registration reminders as well- I would like to know my numbers by April 5th.
