Kansas Teachers win Ideas Unlimited Divisions at KAAE Agriculture Education Symposium
MAYETTA, Kan.– Agricultural Education teachers from across Kansas met at the Prairie Band
Casino and Resort in Mayetta, Kansas for the Kansas Association of Agricultural Educators Ag
Ed Symposium on January 20th through 22nd. While there, teachers attended sessions, heard
from keynote speaker Laila Down on “Teaching with Grace and Growth”, and recognized award
winners in the Ideas Unlimited Program. The Ideas Unlimited Program allows for agricultural
educators to showcase content and curriculum that they have designed for their programs to be
shared with other instructors across the state. Winning KAAE members received a cash award
sponsored by Kevin and Rosemary Harris.
2022 Award winners were the following:
- Teaching Internship Division: Marilyn Long, Royal Valley High School (Hoyt)
- Agriculture Mechanics Division: Ashley Klozenbucher, La Crosse High School
- Classroom Division: Zachary Callaghan, Tonganoxie High School
- Curriculum Division: Ashley Klozenbucher, La Crosse High School
- Technology Division: Michelle Goossen, Buhler High School
- Public Relations Division: Victoria Thompson, Ness City High School
- Beginning Teacher Division: Lindsey Noland, Sedan High School
- FFA Division: Brandon Callaway, Girard High School
- Supervised Agricultural Education Division: Beth Schartz, Tonganoxie High School
Beth Schartz of Tonganoxie High School was the overall winner. Her idea will be sent to the
National Association of Agricultural Educators Region II conference this June in New Mexico.
The Kansas Association of Agricultural Educators is an organization of teachers of agriculture at
the high school, postsecondary, and adult levels who seek to advance agricultural education in
Kansas. The KAAE strives to provide leadership opportunities, service, and advocacy for its
members.
The KAAE is affiliated with the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE), Kansas
Association for Career and Technical Education (K-ACTE) and the Association for Career and
Technical Education (ACTE).
